Hydrinos and Zero Point Energy Devices Get More Real
February 6, 2009 | 18 Comments
The concept of a hydrino, a hydrogen atom with a reduced orbiting electron is something that Randell Mills at Blacklight Power has managed to engineer such that researchers and customers are beginning to quietly line up especially now that Rowan University has confirmed that the device yields energy output.
Cal Tech’s Bernard Haisch and Colorado University’s Garret Moddel are in receipt of a U.S. Patent for another device that is said to extract (Zero Point) energy. In this design the patent states in effect that disruption of the balance between Larmor radiation vs. absorption of radiative energy from the electromagnetic quantum vacuum will yield a release of energy.
The Cal Tech-Colorado design is described in the patent (A very good document to understand the concept) as extracting energy at the location of the device and then recovering the energy out from the device or to quote, “In this way energy is extracted locally and replenished globally from and by the electromagnetic quantum vacuum.”
The device, which is awarded the patent, is a set of cavities called Casimir Cavities that are contained volumes in which the electromagnetic modes are suppressed or restricted. When atoms are pumped (#22, 28) through the Casimir cavity device (#10) a decrease in the orbital energies of the atom’s electrons takes place. The device then captures the energy “lost” or released and expels the atoms out to recover the energy from the electromagnetic quantum vacuum. Surrounding the Casimir cavity device is a capture structure (#24), most likely a form of heat sink. The heat capture structure then moves the heat to something (#26) such as a thermal converter to electricity. Sounds simple enough.
The key for the Casimir cavity device is in the cavity “size” being matched to the electron energy level so that an atom is suppressed significantly enough that energy of the electrons within is stripped away so that it can be harvested. The suggestion in the patent, page 14 referencing Fig. 3 could yield up to 21,500 watts of gross energy release from a Casimir cavity device only 1 centimeter cubed. It will be hot!
All this is a stretch to the imagination. However, it seems Blacklight has managed to use the cavities within the nickel aluminum alloy called Raney nickel when the aluminum is etched or leached away in a specific process. Now the Cal Tech-Colorado device could be manufactured using the systems that make silicon chips. Silicon chip manufacturing is at the level now where etching is working at near single atom levels. Instead of making complex processors, memory and other chips the processes could be modified to simply carve channels for the gas atoms to flow at specified widths and depths.
The hydrino and zero point energy harvests both rely on the reduction of the orbit of electrons. As of today only Blacklight has a third party confirmation of a net energy harvest. That bodes well for the Cal Tech-Colorado gentlemen’s design. The grief is coming from a physics community that in large part regards the whole things as impossible.
Yet quantum physics is a field replete with theories that have come to dubious if not wholly dead ends, and that still needs researched to a sound working understanding. Dr. Mills has his own extensive thoughts on quantum theory and should his device prove workable will seriously upset the current state of quantum physics as he only starts with classical mechanics for his variation. Dr. Bernard Haisch and Dr. Garret Moddel at Cal Tech and Colorado University have carefully reasoned (very well explained in the patent) their theory on what can be regarded as “solid” quantum mechanics that is not nearly so disruptive yet if functional unravels a lot of assumptions.
What is likely if these devices can be made to work is that working units exploiting the physics will set the stage for considerable physics community examination to precisely describe the activities within. That might open the door to even more energy solutions.
The patent has been licensed to Jovian Corporation who at the latest information is running on Proof of Concept investments from Colorado University, Boulder with the aim to develop and commercialize the design with construction and testing of a device.
So . . . That’s the very far outside the box view. Now the Cal Tech-Colorado guys have a circulation system for capturing the “jitter’ in the quantum vacuum. You’ll just have to forgive the word vacuum; quantum space should be an intensely busy place. What the guys have is a system much like an air conditioner or heat pump that moves heat. Instead of heat, the quantum system moves “an absent of some energy orbiting electrons” gaseous atoms, extracting the energy by the device, said energy then sent out to be used releasing the energy into the quantum vacuum, where absorbing the energy back from the quantum vacuum into the circulating gas atom’s electron orbits to be cycled again. That wasn’t so hard.
Now if you’ve a mind to get a sounder grasp on this, here is a link to a lucid explanation of many physics topics by Marcus Chown with the quantum vacuum partway down. Once you’re through that if you need more, you likely already know where to look, but here is a link to get you started. Be warned, if you have a healthy curiosity you could be weeks getting to a workable depth of knowledge and still be frustrated, as this field isn’t fully worked out. It is looking more and more like a field for great careers and venture investment and soon even more creativity and innovation.
Which leads to fun questions like: As the electromagnetic quantum vacuum could be thought to be a result of the big bang, is there an edge to it out beyond the sphere of the energy and matter expelled from the big bang, or is it limited to the part of the space the big bang’s results occupy?
Whatever the results, should these either of these two efforts to draw energy from the quantum state succeed it would drive a need for better understanding. Should the devices perform well, then the fundamental energy of the universe would be in man’s hands, and that would really be incredible.
A hat tip, and a bow in fact, for Brian Wang at Next Big Future for the post that triggered this one. Thanks Brian.

What if it works? What if the critics are wrong?
Sorry, I meant to say CalPhysics not Cal Tech

The description of this can best be described as a Casimir heat pump. With a standard heat pump, you take something that has a low temperature and concentrate it’s heat for later use.
In this case atoms ground state is based in part on the gentle force of the ZPE. When atoms are inside a Casimir plate or tube, their ground state is reduced and they release energy. Once the atoms are outside of the plates they slowly absorb more energy from the ZPE and go back to their real ground state.
Reading the patent and the careful wording they chose, they probably got their idea for this patent from the Blacklight folks and possibly from trying to understand cold “fusion”. Specifically, they avoid hydrogen because you need to break it apart. I think they would like to avoid any prior art issues with Blacklight in the future and they do it quite well using well understood physics.
Since Dr Mills of Black Light Power has already defined the hydrino and because fractional quantum state hydrogen is also misleading I prefer to use the term “relativistic hydrogen” as proposed in a 2005 paper by Jan Naudts“ On the hydrino state of relativistic hydrogen atom”
Naudts argues that detractors of fractional state hydrogen overlook relativistic effects inside a Casimir cavity. These relativistic effects were discussed in a 2002 paper by Italian researchers Di Fiore et all “Vacuum fluctuation force on a rigid Casimir cavity in a gravitational field”. They proposed the possibility of verifying the equivalence principle for the zero-point energy of quantum electrodynamics, by evaluating the force, produced by vacuum fluctuations, acting on a rigid Casimir cavity in a weak gravitational field. Their calculations show a resulting force has opposite direction with respect to the gravitational acceleration, Their proposal indicates equivalent acceleration outside the cavity relative to inside the cavity. Their 10 E^-14 N of force may appear inconsequential but it is a constant acceleration which in the spatial confinement of a cavity I propose can result in frame divergence and accumulate into time dilation for hydrogen atoms obeying gas law inside the cavity. I am proposing that the exclusion field associated with Casimir cavities represents a very local gravitational depletion zone as opposed to the more familiar concentration zone of a gravity well. QED refers to this exclusion of longer wave length vacuum fluctuations inside a Casimir cavity as “up conversion” but I think Naudts relativistic solution is actually at work. I believe time is occurring at multiple seconds per second for atoms diffused inside the cavity inversely proportional to the cube of the distance between “plates” as indicated by the Casimir formula for non-ideal conductors. I believe the normal gravitational field for Casimir plates is modified as plates approach each other in Casimir geometry forming a “depletion” zone between them that upsets the normally isotropic field very locally between the plates. The field is concentrated in the metal lattice which draws down the confined reservoir of a Casimir cavity to create the depletion zone.
Locally hydrogen remains just hydrogen and the Bohr radius is never violated. The small acceleration inside the Cavity accumulates into time dilation and Lorentz contraction which would explain catalytic action but with the appropriate rigid Casimir cavity catalytic action can be leverage into producing excess heat. In the case of the skeletal catalyst used by Mills, Rayney nickel, it is evident that H1 is the preferential state for diffusion. H2 is denied mobility compared to H1 which is able to accumulate velocity inside the exclusion field of the cavity. The small difference in gravitational acceleration calculated by Di Fiore et all represents a diverging relativistic frame allowing the Warkowski space time temporal coordinate of H1 to vary inside the cavity vs. outside the cavity. I prefer to call this “relativistic hydrogen” as opposed to Mills and others who refer to it as fractional quantum states, Their empirical data and calculations of 137 such fractional states varying from 1/2 to 1/137 appears correct but I propose they should be considered perspective multipliers which solve for the trig portion of the Bohr radius measured in our reference frame due to Lorentz contraction. This suggest that Hydrogen orbitals inside a depletion zone can twist their orientation on the time axis in quantum number steps. Dr Mills already claims these fractional states to be non radiative which agrees with my theory that the orbital radius is actually unchanged and the 4D orientation is responsible for the fractional states as observed from a reference frame outside the cavity.
N =1 is assumed to be 45 degree for flat space sharing dimensions equally. As Velocity increases toward C on spatial axis XYZ time is suppressed (event horizon), As velocity increases toward C on time axis the spatial axis XYZ are suppressed (Casimir cavity).
If relativistic H1 forms relativistic H2 it is also denied mobility just like hydrogen molecules near the mouth of the cavity that were unable to diffuse into the depletion zone. The relativistic H2 however has accumulated velocity, is still in a frame with a different acceleration rate and is subject to gas law – heat still trying to diffuse the molecule in opposition to this confinement. The vacuum fluctuations of this still diverging relativistic frame build “organized” boundary conditions with the covalent bond of the confined molecule which breaks the bond and restores the atoms to monatomic levels using ZPE. You could also say the energy is provided by gas law for those opposed to ZPE :_)
When relativistic H2 forms inside a cavity it emits a photon then becomes spatially confined in opposition to the moving frame and gas law. When these forces accumulate to break the covalent bond the atoms reorient to the appropriate “fractional quantum” angle for the local Casimir geometry and the cycle starts over in a photon emitting cascade between H1 and H2 that does not consume the hydrogen. This continues until the atoms escape the cavity or the geometry overheats and grows shorts that relieve the depletion zone.
A patent US 7,379,286 B2 awarded May 27, 2008 to Bernard Haisch and Garret Moddel leverages Casimir force which they refer to as Casimir -Lamb shift. Their planned prototype of Casimir columns formed by milled colums through mettalic plates seperated by insulation layers are arranged in a stack. they drill an array of .1 micron columns through the stack which unlike Rayney nickel has a feed through path seperated by insulators that force the depletion zones in each plate of each column to translate through its full range of values which is a vast improvement over the skeletal catalyst used by Mills. A recent discovery by Peng Chen at Cornell University Finds nanotubes only have catalytic action at ends and at defects where plate spacing changes. This indicates The Haisch – Moddel cavity columns with insulation breaks is superior to skeletal catalysts used by Mills. Although the skeletal catalyst has stronger depletion fields due to much smaller geometry the Rowan validations appear to release a burst of energy and then the Mills reactors are finished while the Haisch – Moddel model is designed to run continuously. Their .1u diameter cavities are much weaker, form columns that allow circulation control and mixing ratios of diatomic to monatomic gases and simpler heat exchange. Although the methods of confinement and the physics being exploited differ they both require the Casimir cavity to establish a differential zone where normal reactionary forces are partially suspended allowing what appears to be overunity but is actually rectifying energy from the ZPF.

Check out above link to a 2 and a half minute youtube video of a CNN report. What are the odds that the independent testimony below is fraudulent (not bloody likely unless you are a paranoid conspiracy theorist)? Here is a silver bullet technology: clean cheap and abundant energy.
In a joint statement, Dr. K.V. Ramanujachary, Rowan University Meritorious Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Dr. Amos Mugweru, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, and Dr. Peter Jansson P.E., Associate Professor of Engineering said, “In independent tests conducted over the past three months involving 10 solid fuels made by us from commercially-available chemicals, our team of engineering and chemistry professors, staff, and students at Rowan University has independently and consistently generated energy in excesses ranging from 1.2 times to 6.5 times the maximum theoretical heat available through known chemical reactions.”
