The Weekend Link List

Here are some links that will entertain, amuse, stimulate and perhaps astonish you over the weekend.

Perhaps like me you have some experience cutting materials and have had the chatter issue intrude on your work. Its not a fuel related link, but has to do with energy input. I’ve had chatter from twisting on rusted fasteners and spent some time on lathes so I recognize this is a substantial development. Especially as some vendors have shipped me parts that must have been a chatterin’ when cut. See:

Peter Glover writes about Europe’s changing views on nuclear power. It seems the need/price/environmental issues are getting reconciled there faster than the US. There are some interesting numbers here, like 80% of France’s electrical generation is already nuclear. See:

Perhaps you’re wondering too about the state of patenting at the research universities and results. Where’s the money? Here is an excellent piece:

Will blogging become lost to marketing? Here is a kind of case being made for marketers to blog. Ugh. The consumer will decide about that I’m sure, but it looks like we might find ourselves faced with an onslaught of corporate blogging trying to influence our thinking. There is a place to make your competitive position, and if its on point, worthy and the product or service merits our attention in this page’s field of interest, well, we’ll love ya. But keep your stuff where it belongs . . . on your site!
